Our pug Chuy is 2 months old. Every time we sit down to eat he puts on the wimpers and looks up with his big ole eyes wanting a morsel. I've heard you can give them bits of grilled chicken and cheese but at what age is it safe to start doing so?

I know he's very cute & it's hard to resist those eyes, but you'll never eat in peace if you start feeding him from the table.  Check with your vet on the age for giving chicken (I wouldn't feed cheese - it's hard on their digestion).  It's probably about the same time you can give dry dog food.  If you do give Chuy "people" food, I'd give it to him in his own dish with the understanding that you're giving to him because YOU want to, not because he's begging.  Good luck with him - he's a cutie!!

kimf,

Thanks for the info. He is actually due for his second set of shots this week so I'll ask her when we bring him in. I wasn't really going to feed him from the table. I know what happens when you give them that first bite. I was talking like for treats and stuff for training. We'll hold off on the cheese and he actually prefers dry food to moistened and his poopie are still good so I guess it is safe for the dry food now.

He is a cutie!! We give each of our dogs a treat a kong toy with peanut butter just before we sit down to eat. They all have their own spot in the kitchen and lay on the floor lapping at them the whole time we eat. This has worked well for us at mealtimes. Good luck!!!
