Are all pugs as vocal as my Olivia she makes grunting noises, sound like crying , yipping and her barking at our other dog or sometimes at us to play. I've never had such a vocal dog before I was just wondering if all pugs are like this?

My Zoe is! She's never quiet it seems...she's always whining or grunting or crying or snorting...and then there's that shriek she makes when she's excited, it will about make you go deaf it's so high pitched.

Mine are ALL vocal especially when they are playing together but I think Webster is the loudest ... and he is the biggest baby!
It's really cute when Zoe thinks its time for dinner. She knows I'm the one that feeds them most of the time so she comes up to me and makes these really cute sounds. Then she tries to take my hand and lead me into the kitchen. Gordon tried to get it on video a couple of times but it never comes out very good.
They eat at 5:30 am and 5:30 pm. Sometimes Zoe "thinks" its dinner time around 4 especially on the weekends. Its hard to convince her to wait another hour or so!
Peyton has the cutest bark ... if there is such a thing! He's not loud - like his brother and sister.

I thought Milo was bad until Abby came along.
She is NEVER quite at all not even when she sleeps.
She makes all kind of sounds when she's playing with Milo,
and when I say " Lets go to bed" Oh man she barks and growls and jumps up on me, I have to l
tell her to shut up!!!! God forbid if I feed the cat or birds,
she just goes crazy with the barks and all the other sounds she makes. LOL

I think Pugs are just like kids,
You have to have 2 or more to know what its like to raise one.

Penelope is really vocal, but I blame her Daddy! She was the quietest iddy biddy pup, but once she barked and it was the sweetest little thing we had ever heard! So my husband kept trying to get her to bark while playing. (I warned him!) Now she talks to us all the time! She sees an animal on TV "aroorooo!", I walk into the kitchen by her food "gruff!", she is tired of Mommy not paying 100% attention to her I get a sad high pitched whine. It's really easy to see what she wants based on the associated noise actually.

My little guy Chuy is very vocal. When he needs to go potty outside he'll wimper by the door. When he wants something he'll give out a little rrrrrrrr bark. When he's super playful he'll bark at us right before he charges to run at us. He'll snort alot while he's playing outside running around in the grass. He hasn't snored yet. He is only 2 months old.

All 3 of mine have their own unique barks...as they are doing as I type this!!!! They want outside!
Cleo has a high bitched bark that set your nerves on edge....!
Gomer howls like the world is coming to an end when he hears the car pull in the drive, or if I come in and go back out to get stuff out of the car ....OMG you can hear all 3 them clear down the road!
Now Brookie, her bark is broke .... it is a deep gutteral (sp) woof, and at breakfast or supper she is the talker.....FEED ME NOW MOMMA! But when I hold her she almost purrs...like she is saying I Love you Momma....rub my wrinkles.
And yes all 3 of mine can rattle the rafters snoring.

My Pugs are the most vocal animals we have ever had and it has spread to our big dog, Bear and our cat Punkin. Puggles does this thing that I swear is a purr. They do the normal snore, snort, snot, grunt, grumble etc. too. We won't even talk about other noisy and silent deadly things that they do! I have only heard Puggles do the "scream" thing once and hope to never hear it again. She did that scream (ei...ei...ei...ei) when she attacked our 100# german shepherd & a big dog fight ensued. That was brave! I thought she was hurt but what she was.. was really mad. It's the only time when I thought she might bite me. Puggles has only met 1 person that she did not like and it was the only time I ever saw hair on her neck stand up as well. She had a really scary growl/howl thing going on too. She tried to bite that guy....still not sure why. Rowdy has an ear splitting howly/barky thing that will drive you crazy! She does it when she is really excited or specifically when I come home from wherever I happen to go. Almost sounds like pain. They also do what my DH calls "sassin'" us. Just "orooooo" till you pay attention. Puggie will jump up into the lawnmower seat and sass him till he takes her for a ride (one of those zero turn things). People driving by slow way down to get a good look. I think we could get her to go for a ride on the motorcycle....in a custom made bag. We may try that. Rowdy....she's having none of that and is content to run after the lawnmower till it stops or she gets tired. Yep.....Pugged 4 Life!
