Our eight-month old Gus-Gus is a pure bred AKC registered pug, and he has a long, woolly coat. He is soft, soft, soft--so fun to pet. I haven't been able to find any information or pictures about pugs with a long coat. I found a site that said there were long-haired pugs in the 1800's and it occassionally comes up now, but there was no further information. Does anyone out there know anything about long-haired pugs? (I tried adding a picture, but it "could not upload"--I'm not sure how to get the picture to attach).

Are you sure its a purebread. I mean, I just read on the internet that anyone can register there pug at AKC, saying its purebread and they basically just take your word for it, and you pay them your money an then your dog is registered. Could it be possible that the mother or father had another breed in them. I'd love to see a pic, I'm sure he's gorgeous!

I'd really like to see the pictures - please do post them when you get a chance.
The last long hairs I recall seeing were in the late 1980s I think - they were in Pug Talk magazine, from Hawaii. Not all the litter was coated, just two (I think - will have to dig those out and see if I can find them again!). And they weren't really "long" just fluffy. It's really unusual to find, especially if there haven't been any in prior litters by the same dogs, or within a couple generations. Do you have a pedigree on your pup? That would be interesting to see!
